American Brilliant
Size: 17” H X 15” W
Size with frame: 24 ½”H X 22 ½” W
AMERICAN BRILLIANT incorporates candy dishes, open salt dips, and chandelier pendants from the American Brilliant period which lasted from 1876-1917.
The objects were high cost, labor intensive luxury item at the time. These"cut glass" pieces had been decorated entirely by hand using rotating metal or stone wheels to produce a pattern. Enhancing the beauty of the four original candy dishes, I have placed them within a chandelier pendant border to bring the viewer into a formal Victorian Parlour with candy dishes and salt dips
When placed in a sunny spot the cut crystal creates an ever changing prismatic effect, adding to the dimensionality and look of the piece as it shifts with the moving sunlight.
