OPTICIAN’S NIGHTMARE

OPTICIAN’S NIGHTMARE is made from 100+ year old spectacle lenses. Many of the lenses are bifocals, some have screws for the nose bridge, and all have different prescriptions. 

The lenses were assembled on a form and project out in a 3” convex dome towards the viewer. The antique mirror placed behind the lenses creates a web-like barrel effect and reflects images in different aspects.

Two borders frame the perimeter made from art modern chandelier pendants and triangular crystal chandelier pendants. The piece is finished with a 1 ½” wooden frame painted bronze.
