"Cut glass" is glass that has been decorated entirely by hand by use of rotating wheels. Cuts are made to the smooth surface of the glass by using metal or stone wheels, to produce a pattern. The American Brilliant period lasted from 1876-1917 and the objects were high cost, labor intensive luxury item to produce.
American Brilliant incorporates candy dishes, open salt dips, and chandelier pendants from this period. The border is made from Italian triangular crystal chandelier pendants from the 1950’s.
